Did you ever trust a school nurse? I did when she diagnosed my symptoms as a cold. During those days, nobody really doubted a school nurse. Her advice was highly trusted amongst the students. I lived a life of sneezing and nasal drip.
A few years later, I started to doubt what the school nurse told me. “How could a cold last so long and happen so often?” So I decided to pay a visit to the junior high school nurse. She told me that I had allergies.
I asked my parents when I got home for allergy medicine. They had never even taken it before. They ended up giving me something that made me drowsy throughout the day. I couldn’t believe that my teacher actually accused me of taking drugs (the kind that aren’t allowed at school) when in fact I was only taking allergy medication.
That was the start of my sinus infection problems. Here are 2 types of sinusitis (sinus infections). Acute and chronic are the 2 kinds of sinus infections.
Here’s the details:
Symptoms of Acute Sinus Infection
* Mucus drainage down the back of the throat
* Fever is common
* Nasal congestion
* Pain behind the eyes
* Facial pain or soreness
* Pressure around the sinus cavities
* Nasal discharge
* Vision problems
* Headaches
Symptoms of Chronic Sinusitis
* Chronic sore throat
* Pain below the eyes
* Pressure across or above your nasal passages
* Toothaches
* Prolonged headaches
* Chronic nasal discharge
* Bad breath
* Prolonged facial pain
How Long Do These Sinus Infection Symptoms Last?
As you can see, these symptoms have some similarities. However, what is dissimilar is the amount of that the symptoms last. Acute sinus infections can last for several weeks. Chronic sinus infections typically last for longer period of time.
